When I think of books set in New York City, I imagine the New York City of romantic comedies, of people trying to make it in television, modern and fast-paced novels. But those are not the type of books I tend to read, and when I looked back at books I’d read set in NYC I discovered a mix of literary fiction and children’s books with a smattering of mystery and magical realism.
